Hire us to manage your financial records and you’ll sleep better, knowing that your finances are up-to-date.

This is what you can expect when you hire Donna Mazerolle & Associates for your accounting and bookkeeping.

Bank Reconciliation

Why your business chequing account should be reconciled each month:

  • You will understand how your business is doing financially. Unless your accounts are reconciled and properly accounted for, you’re playing a guessing game.
  • Detect unauthorized transactions, including wire transfers and embezzlement of funds by employees (yes, it does happen).
  • You’ll manage your cash more efficiently.
  • Identify any transactions which were not completed: for example, lost cheques or lost deposits.
  • Identify excess or unjustified bank fees.
  • Should an error be made by the bank in posting a transaction, the issue can be brought to the banks attention immediately.

Income Statement

A monthly income statement, provides you with a line by line item of your revenues and expenses. Subtract your expenses from your revenues and you’ll know immediately if you’re profitable of running at a loss.

An income statement:

  • Tracks revenues and expenses.
  • Allows you to quickly see which areas of your business are over or under budget.
  • Shows your tax liabilities.
  • Identifies expenses that are out-of-line with forecasts.

Balance Sheet Your balance sheet provides a picture of the financial health of your business.

Why you want a balance sheet that’s current:

  • You’ll better understand your cash-flow, and identify trends. For example if your clients are taking longer to pay, you can be more aggressive in requesting payment. Likewise you’ll see if your payables are under control, or if a cash squeeze is causing you to make late payments to your vendors.
  • You’ll know how strong your business is financially, allowing decisions to be made with confidence.
  • Quickly identify if a cash shortage is on the horizon, allowing you to be proactive in coming up with a solution instead of being caught by surprise.

The General Ledger Every transaction is first entered in the general ledger. Make a mistake here and it will affect your reports and ultimately your understanding of how your business is doing.

Each month we’ll carefully check your general ledger for accuracy, making sure transactions are entered correctly.

Personal Consultations Unless your background is in accounting, it’s likely you’ll have questions or want to get advice on how best to proceed using the information in your financial records. It’s prudent to get expert advice before making a decision which can impact your business financially. That’s why we offer our clients personal consultations. We would be pleased to sit down with you and customize an accounting, bookkeeping and consultation package that meets and adapts to your needs.

Once you experience our integrated approach to serving the financial needs of your business, you’ll be glad you took the time to find out how we can help your business prosper.
